Dear Needham Friends
and Neighbors,
After careful consideration, I have decided to
seek re-election to the Board of Selectman. In these challenging times,
I believe that with the knowledge and skills gained from six years on
the Board, I can continue to provide strong leadership for the well
being of our community.
As a Selectman, I have consistently supported projects
and programs that help to define Needham as a great place to live and
raise a family. Those projects include the Broadmeadow and Eliot Elementary
Schools, the Public Library, the High Rock 6th Grade School and reconstruction
of two major athletic field complexes. In addition, while two of our
neighboring towns delayed work on new High Schools and now face price
tags of $142 million and $195 million, Needham moved ahead swiftly and
efficiently. We built an almost completely new building for $63 million
with half of that paid by the State. More recently, with much community
input, we have embarked on a renovation plan for Town Hall that is universally
applauded. While these projects are important, I also supported maintaining
Town services including schools, public safety and roads. Needham is
a leader in providing quality services, yet it has a lower tax rate
than many comparable communities.

to learn more about my position on some of Needham's upcoming challenges.
This year, there is a competitive race for
Selectman. To win this important election, I
need you. See how you can help under

I
will be grateful for your help and your vote on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
Sincerely,
John
